We are too! Here's what you should know about the printing industry

In Lebanon, it's estimated only five per cent of the ink cartridges sold are recycled every year. This means about 5 million ink cartridges will end up in our landfills, taking hundreds of years to decompose. It also takes 2.5 ounces of non-renewable oil to make each new cartridge.

Toner cartridges thrown into the landfill can take up to 450 years to decompose and some made of industrial grade plastic will take over 1,000 years. It also takes a gallon of non-renewable oil to make each new toner cartridge.

But there's good news!

97% of ink cartridge components are reusable and can be recycled. As for toners, each re-manufactured cartridge saves almost 2.5 pounds of metal and plastic waste (plus oil & other non-renewable resources) from landfills.
